Star Jewelry

I make a wide variety of Pentacles:
a symbol that is found in every culture.
The five pointed star has been seen in nature
forming the core of the apple, blossoms, and minerals
and in the random patterns of branches and trees.
It has been adopted as a symbol of strength and purity:
featured in the drawings by Leonardo da Vinci
of the “first man” representing “life in balance”
even associated in renaissance paintings with Christ.

Blossom Star Amulet

The individual points represent the four elements:
fire, water, air, and earth
with the point of spirit pointing up,
again illustrating the balance of nature
with the perception of spirit.

In celebration of the five pointed star,
I have developed the symbol made of the branches of the apple tree.
The branches are woven as a sign of eternity.
The weaving of the branches is in the sequence of
creation, starting with the top point of “spirit”
and proceeding to the point of “transformation (fire)
then Wisdom (air),
Consciousness (water)
then grounding in the material world (earth)
and resolving in Spirit.
An apple blossom on the side: the promise of fulfillment.
The apple is often a symbol of living knowledge,
wisdom and abundance:
though knowledge tend to foster options that tend to lead to trouble,
it is up to the individual to choose to be “right minded” when choosing a path.

I offer the Blossom Star as “the Teacher’s Star”,
perfect for those on the path of all faiths dedicated to truth,
wisdom and virtue.

Pentacles often had no connotation of “five” in the old magical documents,
but were magical talismans inscribed with any symbol or character.
The most common “pentacle” is the five point star.
In one of it’s earliest forms the Pentacle symbolized the first “ADAM”,
signified in early art as “Human Perfection”,
the “First Man” in the Garden of Eden.

to signify Matter or the Material World.
Each of the Pentacle cards represents a scenario and lesson about money,
influence, decisions and more.

The Pentacle as a five pointed star
represents the balance between the Elements

balance and good fortune.
When inverted,

it is no longer in balance but rather oppressed:
the elements are over powering the spirit.

The Balanced Star Amulet

Two woven stars interlocked:
the six point star: a composite symbol of the elements
triangles with point up and down illustrating
the alchemical glyphs of Fire, Water, Air and Earth;
and the five point star of the Adam Kadmon:
the First Man
or Father Time;
Humanity in its primal,
perhaps perfected state of existence.

Together these two images represent the balance of forces:
Male (active) and Female (passive).
This is not to say that “all men are active and all women are passive”,
not at all.

In the material world,
we all contain these kinds of energies,
qualities and potential.
The terms are considered “classic” in the sense
of how our cultures perceive the world
and provided descriptions of what has been observed.

Within the glyph,
there is a blending of the two in hope to develop
a “more realistic” manifestation.

In another sense
it is the material world
(six point star with all of its elements)
and the five point star
(what we decide to do with it),
the ability of proactive choice
(the five point star).
A reminder of how we affect the world,
the power of intent,
the purpose of our actions and their result.
A reminder that our “purpose” in the world
is what we decide
rather than what is dictated by outside forces.

The Amulet is intended
to transcend the preconceived illusions
of separate religious,
sociological and philosophical differences
and blend awareness of things into a single piece.
The symbols are woven together:
just as the earth is a weaving together of awareness,
perspective and ability.

The Balanced Star Amulet
is intended for anyone to wear,
everyone who wishes to embrace a diversity and
bring balance to a troubled world.

The Star Drop Amulet

The shape of the eight point star is used as an artistic expression of the celestial points of light in classical and modern art though out the world. In paintings of the heavens, this shape was used to denote the North Star, the star of the Blue Fairy in Pinocchio, in child’s finger painting and in the most detailed maps of the constellations.

The Star Drop Amulet

As an artist, I was fascinated by it’s universal appeal and adopted it in my own paintings, sketches and illustrations. After experimenting with the design I discovered and inverted view including the descending ray expanded it’s meaning. No longer fixed in the sky the star isn’t fixed in the sky, the descending ray reaches towards the earth; a metaphor of bringing the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth. The Masons use the metaphor illustrated in their ancient building of temples; as noted by James Joyce in Finnegan’s Wake in the building of the Cathedral the bricks go up (raising the earth to heaven) and the hod returns “empty” or “filled with air” (spirit) bringing the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth. Although an often used quote used by Christians and Jews, the concept of Heaven on Earth actually predated the Monotheistic paths by centuries. The idea “If you live a good life you get to go to heaven” was not readily accepted by the Scots. Rather the idea “One makes their heaven or hell while still breathing” was more akin to the Old Religion, denoting responsibility of how one leads one’s life and bring the Ideal into the Real.

In some versions of the Star Card in the Tarot, we see the eight point star prominent in the sky above the Sky clad figure of Isis pouring “water” into a pool denoting the contribution of one’s consciousness to the Akashic Waters. When wearing the Star Drop Amulet one is reminded of the power of virtue, of positive thinking, action, and conscious living. It is also a subliminal statement to those that see the bearer of the amulet, perhaps a reminder: life can be and will be better should we choose it: discarding grudges and moving forward in our lives.
