This is the Third of a series of articles
examining the Major Arcana using the Grand Spread
(three groups of seven, the Fool being separate)
to better understand and harness ourselves, our talent,
intelligence, experience and gifts.
An introduction is found in First Resonance.

The Grand Spread

Next to the High Priestess in the First Grouping is the third card:

The Empress

The Empress
Venus

The Empress

From the single point of consciousness of The Magician
(the ability to focus on the Now)
to The High Priestess
(the depth of the Past, Memory: personal and ancestral);
manifests the Empress combining the single pointed consciousness with the depth of memory:
the ability to visualize the future.

In the second line underneath the Empress in the Second Grouping we find

Wheel of Fortune

Wheel of Fortune
Jupiter

The Wheel of Fortune: the Law.

This is not human law,
rather it is the framework on how reality manifests.
The image is that of a wheel turning amid the elements,
causing a blending of all of it’s permutation.
In the center I have placed an eye,
giving the wheel a steady point in which one may be able to examine the process
without being caught up in it.
Most of us are on the edge of the wheel experiencing the ups and downs of material possession,
mood, health and so on.
By centering one’s Self ( a meditation often taught in Martial arts)
one may calm the heart and mind
and allow one’s perception to reveal things as they are
rather than how one wants it to be.

The Star

The Star
Aquarius

In the Third Grouping we find the Star:
the process of meditation itself.
Tzaddi is a pictorial representation of a fish hook:
the single point of consciousness we drop into the pool of the “great unconsciousness”
to see what is down there.
Like fishing,
we suspend ourselves in the great waters of the unconsciousness,
allowing the Akashic waters to surround us and flow through.
This concept is a reflection from the center of the Wheel,
only this time the boundaries of chaos are no longer there.
It is replaced by unlimited possibilities that reach beyond perception.

The first level reveals the position (the Empress) for the personal,
the second position (the Wheel) reveals the environment in which we work
and the third position demonstrates how we may apply what we have learned.

The Third Resonance of the Fool’s Journey is:

The Empress, The Wheel of Fortune, The Star

Tarot Casters ~ Third Resonance

Tarot Casters
Third Resonance

Knowing the present and past,
now visualize the future (the Empress).
The Wheel of Fortune defines the parameters of what is possible and what is not.
The Star aides us with inspiration
and the ability to think beyond the parameters of normal thought.
The resonance between these three levels
provide a Visionary with the tools needed to imagine the future:
knowing what is appropriate and how to stretch boundaries.
Place these three cards together and observe the delicate balance produced.
Set these cards on your alter,
use them as meditations,
place them in your pocket
or wear the combination as amulets.

We may better understand and harness our talent and ourselves.

Meditation on random spreads help us to make intuitive leaps;
arranging them in set patterns create vibrations and resonance,
providing us with a moment of introspection.
Observing these combinations, we strengthen our perception,
focus, clarity of mind and ignite inspiration.

In the previous article is the First Resonance

In the First Grouping,

Next to the Magician is the second card:
The High Priestess

The High Priestess

The High Priestess
~The Moon~

From the single point of consciousness
The Magician (the ability to focus on the Now)
Consciousness takes root in the Present, stretches into the Past,
exploring Memory… The High Priestess:
(Depth of the Past, Memory: personal and ancestral)
like stepping into a waterfall of consciousness
cascading down upon you,
flowing through your awareness,
providing a sense of infinite depth.
Experience allows the Mercurial substance
(consciousness)
to flow and take form of memories:
personal, historical, metaphysical; providing self reflection.

In the Second Grouping we find the Hermit under the High Priestess.

The Hermit: the Spark of Truth.

The Hermit

The Hermit
~Virgo~

The image of the Hermit
(referred to as the Hand of God)
moving from one place to another “looking for an honest man”
is shining this Light of Truth
to better understand a situation.
With the roots of lore and experience,
the Hermit gains a better perspective.
We learn from our mistakes
and learn to ride the currents of events.

Below this card is The Tower.

The Tower

The Tower
~Mars~

Noted as the Tower of Babble we recall the fable:
as a misconception of physics and theology,
the folk of Babble attempt to build a tower so they may reach heaven.
Angered by their folly,
God strikes the tower with a bolt of lighting causing it to crumble.
When trying to piece together what had happened,
every one found they didn’t speak the same language
the entire community fell apart:
everyone went in different directions.

The key to this tale are these points:
Misconception of a situation:
the structure was built on a faulty foundation.
Realization of the flaws.
The structure is torn down to it’s basic elements,
what is left is only what is True.
Human speech is limited by language;
some experiences are simply ineffable.

Second Resonance

These three keys strengthen our ability to better understand consequences
and respond appropriately

The Second Resonance of the Fool’s Journey is:

The High Priestess, The Hermit, The Tower.

The Magician
(once the Fool)
steps into the flow of consciousness
gaining the wisdom of the Ages,
recalls History, Experience,
and builds a foundation on the Bedrock of Reality.
Ever watching the skies for the storm,
welcoming it’s correction so the Tower of one’s perception is dependable.
Place these three cards together
and observe the delicate balance produced.
Set these cards on your alter,
use them as meditations,
place them in your pocket or wear the combination as amulets.

Tarot ~ First Resonance

The Tarot may be used in a variety of ways.
The most popular one is an oracle,
however it is also used to better understand how our minds work
and the way we use them.
Meditation on random spreads allow us to make intuitive leaps,
using them in set patterns create vibrations and resonance,
providing us with a moment of introspection.
As we observe these combinations we strengthen our perception,
focus, clarity of mind and ignite inspiration.

The Grand Spread

The Grand Spread
When viewed together
they teach us valuable lessons about how to live
the Foundation of Ethics

Often refereed to as the Fool’s Journey
or the Hero’s Journey
the Major Arcana is a set of 22 Keys,
or images representing ideas, experiences and perspectives.
Sometimes referred to as the Grand Spread
one may view them as four sets:
The Magician through the Chariot,
Strength through Temperance,
the Devil through the Universe,
and the Fool stands alone,
placed on top.

The first seven are:

The Magician: Realization of the Present and how it works
The High Priestess: The Depth of the Past, Memory: personal and ancestral – even to the beginning of time.
The Empress: the ability to visualize possibilities by combining the magician (Single pointed consciousness) and the High Priestess (Experience).
The Emperor: The ability to perceive how to manifest the Vision
The Heirophant: The connection to one’s “Higher Self”
The Lovers: the merging of all of these things in a dynamic Balance
The Chariot: The Sacred Space generated by this culmination, it’s strengths and it’s fragility.

Taken in sequence,
we see an evolution from Magician through the Chariot:
from the central core of single pointed Consciousness
to the Sacred Space in which he/she inhabits.

The Magi

The Magi

The Magi
~Mercury~

One pointed Focus and concentration.
Here the Fool becomes aware of him/herself
and begins to apply Knowledge
through Focused Will.
In the classical image the Magician stands before a table
on the table are the tools of his “trade”
representations of the “elements”
Each one an aspect of his Consciousness.

The first grouping of seven cards lines up with the second one,
placing Strength under the Magician:

Strength

Strength

Strength
~Leo~

alludes to the chakras:
a very involved study focusing on energy centers within the body.
From the base of the spine to the top of the head
(it is noted in Yoga studies)
seven centers:
each themselves are of a particular nature.
One may devote one’s life to years of study of this subject,
but it is important to note the discipline of Yoga
is potent in mastering one’s self.
Classically,
this card is illustrated by an angel opening the mouth of a lion:
giving the beast speech.
In both cases one is harnessing what is at first perceived:
animal, untamed,
and comes to a better understanding;
“lending credence” to what on the first impression as unfathomable
or adversarial;
making an ally of an enemy.

The Third grouping starts with the Devil, placed under Strength.

The Devil

The Devil

The Devil
~Capricorn~

is an often misunderstood card,
to say the vary least.
There is a distinct difference between the Devil of the Tarot
and the Devil found in Hollywood or in your neighborhood Church.
The Devil associated with the Tarot is better thought of as
Coyote of the Native American Traditions:
A Trickster, one who tests and teases.
The challenge of this card is harnessing the opportunity of learning from experience
or being trapped by One’s own devices and misconception.
“The Devil” will twist things out of shape
or take it apart something to see how it works,
but one must keep track of where all the screws are
and make sure you don’t have any parts left over.
The Devil’s most powerful tool is humor:
by making a joke of something,
one can better deal with a tragedy,
but if one goes over the edge…
well, some things simply aren’t funny.
The Devil teaches us self discipline,
when to say “no”
turn away from obsession and self absorption;
how to laugh and resist stagnation.

The First Resonance of the Fool’s Journey is:

Magician, Strength, Devil.

First Resonance

First Resonance
The Tarot Casters
of
Amulets by Merlin

The First Resonance begins with the
The Magician:

The Fool grasps the present and learns the meaning of the elements;
begins Self Mastery through self control,
inner discipline and a solid sense of humor.

The First Resonance in it’s ideal
provides a powerful foundation:
it is being constantly tested and checked for flaws.
It maintains awareness
but not simply focused on one thing:
rather it is focused on the Now.
Calmly ready and able to respond appropriately.
Place these three cards together
and observe the delicate balance produced.
Set these cards on your alter,
use them as meditations,
place them in your pocket
or wear the combination as amulets.

Merlin’s Triquetra Collection

I wrote earlier about the Triquetra Amulet and Earrings: simply meaning “triangle”; Triquetra refers to a variety of three-cornered shapes and evolved into a symbol of depth. This Celtic three cornered knot represents three-in-one: the Trinity.

Merlin's Triqetra Collection

To augment the Triquetra Knot I have added a woven circle: The Unity of the Trinity, the Circle of Love unifies all.

To combine the Amulet with matching earrings, I have created: the Merlin’s Triquetra Collection. Now you may order the entire set and added the option of your desired length of chain. The Triquetra Collection are for those who cherish what the idea of the Trinity in any of its forms: The love of family, their religion, the earth itself, or simply find the shape of the triangle pleasing to their eye.

I wrote earlier about the Triquetra Amulet: simply meaning “triangle” and has been used to referred to a variety of three-cornered shapes but has been evolved into a symbol of depth. To accompany the Amulet, I have created a set of earrings of the same design: the Triquetra Earrings.

Added to the Triquetra is a woven circle: The Unity of the Trinity, the Circle of Love unifies all. The Watchful Wolf Ring

In my Collection of jewelry I make a wolf ring. It is a portrait, full face relief of a somewhat pleased wolf looking right at you. Last fall a young lady asked me to make the ring with amber eyes. After some struggling I figured out how to do it. With the carving so deep, there was room to place a pair of amber stones in the head and include a special setting to hold them in place. It made the back of the ring more stone than not: hollowed out and allowing some light to spill and bounce around. The result is amazing. When placed on the table, the stones light up and the wolf face pierces you with his gaze. When worn, the orbs in his head give a rather deep look, as if he is gazing into himself.

Wathchful Wolf Ring
The Watchful Wolf Ring

I placed an image of it in my gallery and after a bit I received a few requests for the Wolf Ring. Because I focus on custom, I found it a challenge to re produce it. Each ring requires careful modification due to the re-shaping of the wolf face and settings to accommodate ring sizes: this causes each wolf to look sightly different, altering to the size of the finger he (or she) will reside. I took some time over the winter to prefect it. I am pleased with the result and so I would like to introduce you to the latest in my Wolf Collection of Jewelry: The Watchful Wolf Ring.

The Quarent

Posted by Amulets by Merlin on March 28, 2011
Posted in: Tarot. Tagged: Heirophant, Paul Foster Case, Quarent, Robin Wood, Tarot, Tarot Casters of Merlin, The Matrix. Leave a comment

Many of us face junctures in our lives where we are so overloaded with concern we turn to an authority for answers. Some seek the priest or rabbi, others turn to parents or guardians, some even look to the paper for an astrological forecast, trouble moving through our lives like a storm. When that happens we become Quarents. A Quarent is a meditation on language: derived from the divination practice of Tarot, and refers to the person seeking information.

As an Oracle, the Tarot offers ways of seeing our world and ourselves from an objective point of view. Many have offered suggestions as to why and how the Tarot works. One such concept put forth by Robin Wood is: the Universe is trying to tell us something through all manor of techniques, and usually finds the easiest way to help us. A best friend or loved one may say “just the right thing” at the right time and the message is received.

For those who are training themselves to be open, the Tarot offers a conduit of archetypical images and scenarios where we may find a new perspective. For the more skeptical, questions like “well, does the ‘Universe’ then manipulate the cards to tell you your message? (chuckle)”. Perhaps…

Heirophant Amulet

Let us consider then the Tarot as an Oracle. A deck of cards: 78 in number, 22 of them are Archetypical in concept. 16 cards of varying degrees of manifestation: combination between the elements, each describing a basic “personality” and the remainder various stages of interaction in quality, each one of these describing a problem. A good Tarot Reader (with experience) recognizes each of these as a tool, quality or situation which holds a story about the various experiences one has in life. In combination they are like algebra: formula describing scenarios which leads to more problems and their solutions.

Once the calculation is described, the mind is then put to rest and the final portion of the reading is made: intuition. Many describe this final aspect as the Heirophant: the ultimate Authority. Not one outside yourself, but that inner portion of yourself which is eternal and “knows”. Once the the mind is at rest, this inner Heirophant “speaks”, perhaps not in words, but in the basic feelings that stir from the center of one’s being.

Paul Foster Case summed up the study of the Tarot in two words: “Know thyself” (Quoted in the Movie “The Matrix”). The study of the Tarot is the study of one’s self, however to truly understand the Tarot, one must read for others, making the obvious connection between ourselves and the people around us. The deeper one goes into this study, the more one understands the people around them.

And so, if you could ask the most important question of your life, what would it be? The answer is in the Question.

Piano Lessons Offered

Posted by Amulets by Merlin on March 26, 2011
Posted in: Piano Lessons. Tagged: music lessons, music teacher in Newport News Virginia, music theory, Piano Lessons, read music, sheet music. Leave a comment

One of the services I provide to locals is Piano Lessons.

I began studying the Piano when I was seven years old: the “age of reason”. By the time I reached High School, I was attempting to compose and sought side work as a piano instructor to small children. By the time I reach adult hood I had studied with several instructors, one was Elane Gibson, a virtuoso who specialized in the Romantic Period, particularly Scriabin. I had also composed music for a dance sequence for a play our High school produced: “Dark of the Moon”. I also entered several song writing competitions, one recording assisted by Trish Mathews. Although the actual recording was lost, I recall the afternoon of re-takes in my parent’s living room.

Adulthood, marriage and kids had it’s way with me, I stopped practicing and got rusty with my fingers. It wasn’t until the early nineties I took up teaching again. I had a dozen students in a Montessori School in Norco, California before I moved to Virginia in ’92.

Keyboard

I currently live in Newport News, Virginia and teach music to children and adults focusing on early instruction and building into a comprehensive understanding in music theory and practice. Although I teach primarily the Piano, much is translated into Guitar and the Drum, each contributing a different angel of perspective in music. For more information about Piano Lessons, you are welcome to see my Thumbtack Page.

From Astrology to Zodiac

Posted by Amulets by Merlin on March 19, 2011
Posted in: Amulets, Tarot, Zodiac Amulets. Tagged: astrology, Astrology Amulets, Astrology jewelry, change astrology, change zodiac, Zodiac, Zodiac Amulets, Zodiac Jewelry. Leave a comment

Yes, we have all heard the clamor about having to re-do the Zodiac. As many experts have stepped up and announced that we need to change everything, I have sat back and had a good laugh. There is no argument about the shift of the constellations around our globe, but changing Astrology?

First, let us consider what these symbols actually represent: the wheel of the year based on the seasons described as pictographs representing both a time of year and a personality trait.

The calender had been divided into seasons: each season described as been segmented into three bands: Cardinal (Activating), Fixed (Solid, grounded), and Mutable (adaptability). A good example of this is Spring: it begins with Aries: busting in like a ram on a mission. Taurus settles in and Spring is in full swing. The the transition to summer begins as Spring rounds it’s last house of Gemini. By looking at the Zodiac, we see a description of our year as the Earth makes it’s journey around the Sun. By watching how the stars move through the sky, it was easy to see correlations between these “months” and the position of the stars to the sun.

Leo Amulet

It is a fascinating thing to observe modern psychology grow and develop. The “hard science” extends from human behavior and conditioning to brain studies and is extremely complex. “Pop” psychology has a tendency to divide people into basic stereotypes: Alpha and Beta. You are either a “dominant” personality or you do what you are told. As we dig deeper we see so many variables (childhood, parenting – or lack of it, income, race) it gets muddy pretty quickly.

Before Jung and Freud, there were few words to describe personality traits unless you relied on Astrology. There we find Twelve “basic” personality types, each cut into a multiple subgroups, degrees of intensity, crossing paths like a kaleidoscope of color. Because Physiologists of the early 20th century had a tendency to look at themselves as Scientists rather than Artists; the “millions of colors” provided in the Astrological palette was shunned rather than embraced. Worse: the community who understood Astrology for what it really is, avoided discussing any of it with those in the Universities.

So, the question come forth, what is it: really?
Astrology is a language which describes the Human condition and has provided a vast “database” of experiences of those who have used it. With this language we can then come to a better understanding as to what is happening and what our choices are. When attempting to discover “the right thing to do” astrologers have calculated “right action” in difficult situations for centuries.

In the old days, an Oracle would learn when you were born and where; but didn’t stop there. More information was needed: who are your parents? What kind of situation are you living in now? The Oracle would see what you were wearing, your jewelry, your food and so on. It was extremely “holistic”. All of this information was then compounded and a prescription of conduct was then prescribed. Astrology was but a small tool in the box. Yes there were specialists, but Dr. John Dee was an exception rather than the rule.

Now, Astrology is treated like a basic computer game: what is your sign? Here is your forecast. When we consult an Oracle, it is usually at a time of crisis and we want answers. Most of us are in a panic and really don’t care how one gets the right answer, we just want it. It reminds me of a story my Father once told me of a woman in his congregation back in Houston in the 50s. She consulted the Bible everyday for her forecast. She would close her eyes and give a prayer, ask her question, open the Book at a random place and point. There on the page would be her answer. “How accurate was this?” I asked him and looked at me in surprise: “Well, most of the time it seemed to work for her, however she did wind up buying a lot of shoes because the Bible told her to do so.” The Bible was not intended to be an Oracle, but it is an amazing thing that we may harness things in this way. Astrology may be applied in many ways, not always as it is intended. However the modern use of Astrology (the newspaper’s “Daily Forecast”) is a shadow compared to it’s actual use and purpose.

So, the Solar System has moved though our galaxy, the orbit of the planet around the sun has given us a different view of the stars but we still have the same seasons: Spring always starts like a Ram making a new door (usually right next to the old one). Should we now change the language, the symbols, the ways we describe our world and ourselves because of the latest media hype about the placement of the Zodiac? Yes, it is a silly question. The forces of nature have remained the same, only our perception of those forces has changed. I will continue to use the Old Language “as it is” to describe my Tarot Amulets and my Zodiac Collection.

However, here is a more serious one:
Astrology holds a mirror for us to see our strengths and weakness. It says “Your are here”, simply a starting line. Oracles ask “You have all of these tools to work within this environment, what do you choose to do?” Possibly the most subversive question offered. It doesn’t say a deity has a plan for you, no Destiny to fulfill, no Fate. “You are in control of your life, what do you choose?”

The Boo Hoo Amulet

Posted by Amulets by Merlin on March 12, 2011
Posted in: Help for the Clueless, Humor. Tagged: Clueless, Humor Jewelry, Hyperbole, Silly amulets. 1 Comment

In my youth I was surrounded by Educators: both of my parents were teaching in Collages and Universities. Because of this I grew to know a number of professors who acted as if they knew everything, and to a youngster it seemed true. There were a number of occasions when at a social gathering of one sort of another I would overhear conversations between these giants of knowledge only to learn there were conflicts between their opinions as to what was “true”. After over hearing many of these over the years I became suspicious as to whether these human embodiments of Wisdom were actually fallible or not. Eventually I pulled my Father aside as asked him about it.

“Well, Son (My Father considered me so bright, he called me “Son”) there are some who know and some who think they know and raise their voices to shout down their inner voices telling themselves they aren’t sure.” Hence forth, I usually took those who raise their voices in debate as folks who are busily trying to convince themselves they are right.

In my adulthood I found a great number of “experts” who tend to voice a topic they either invented or hijacked and became authorities on the subject. I recall a friend of mine referring to these noble birds as “Boo Hoos” and thus the name stuck with me, it tended to become a reference to those who tend to make up stuff as they went along, rather than gleaning wisdom from a reliable source.

When I was on the circuit (attending festivals, events and gatherings of all kinds) I came across a great number of folks who anointed themselves as “experts” on a variety of subjects, mostly Metaphysical and Spiritual, thus the term “Boo Hoo” wound up dressed in Robes and carrying various accoutrements of a noble station. Personally I was concerned because not only they, but a host of other people took them seriously. Much like the self made gurus of the ’60s and ’70s, these “Boo Hoos” became prevalent and nearly worshiped by the uninitiated and inexperienced.

The Boo Hoo Amulet

The Boo Hoo Amulet

One night at a science fiction convention called “SheVaCon” (located in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia) I found myself keeping company with my good friend Troy and a bottle of Scotch. We were well into our cups by that time and the subject of the Boo Hoo came up. I attempted to explain the idea to him and low and behold he understood the concept and became a Boo Hoo himself. Like Magic he looked at me with eyes of wisdom and understanding, opened his mouth and sang:

“I am Boo Hoo
I’m all Knowing
I am Speaking
Hot air Blowing
You are Listening
My head Growing
I am Boo Hoo
I am Teaching
Explaining all things
I am Reaching
Inventing new facts
Truth is screeching
I am Boo Hoo
I am Learning
Hearing my errors
My face burning
Students Returning
Stomach churning.

I was speechless. The melody was of a chant I was well familiar with, the words flowed out of him as if it was a well memorized incantation of Wisdom. I had no choice but to ask him his magical name (most Boo Hoos have magical names of one sort or another); and thus he spake unto me his sacred name The Great Sakima.

I was floored, the song ringing in my ears ever since.

Upon returning to my home (and sobriety) I was lost in though and imagined there was a need of greater understanding. I then began the commentary on this most sacred song (most sacred text and songs need a commentary: it is how one person highjacks another’s holy words and adopts them for their agendas). Deep into the night I wrote the translations of these phrases and came up with this:

A Commentary on the Chant of the Boo Hoo

I am Boo Hoo
This is a conformation of one’s Status. Obviously to truly know one’s self, one must face the inevitable. Alas for the Boo Hoo for the office of this sort is a troubled one. Let us examine the Holy Name: Boo Hoo.

Boo:
aside from the most obvious concept that to shout “BOO” to an unsuspecting chap may move one to a state of startled bewilderment; in Chinese the word “boo” translates “no”. In English, this rhymes with “Know” and as we may all agree that the synchronized connection is far too obvious to disclaim. However, if you truly wish to argue the point you are more that welcome to write your own chant.

Hoo:
This is also a revelation that is connected through the language’s mysterious process of rhyming, a manifestation that may be observed through the holy ritual of the Sick Puppy. Hoo is then reviled to be “Who”. So then to place the concepts together then one may discover that a Boo Hoo is indeed an individual that Knows All, although the answer may not be available at the time.

I’m all Knowing:
This point has been examined in the description above. I wish to note here that being all knowing doesn’t mean to know all and doesn’t mean that the Boo Hoo understands anything, hence the difference between knowledge and wisdom.

I am Speaking:
This is the most frequent pass time of the Boo Hoo. It has been said often that if a Boo Hoo isn’t talking, chances are that the Boo Hoo isn’t breathing. This tends to make those that live in the holy presence to develop selected hearing loss.

Hot air Blowing
This is a Mystery of the Boo Hoo. In winter a Boo Hoo in good form has been known to warm entire buildings. Thus: the popularity of attending classes at universities and the full congregation in churches across the world in the colder seasons. Also, transversely many schools tend to close in the summer months due to the excessive heat.

You are Listening:
A rare occasion for the intelligent. Indeed, the process of tagging each and every Boo Hoo is a must to prevent the unsuspecting individual from placing too much weight of one’s world view with out thinking for one’s self.

My head Growing:
Sometimes referred to the Rush of the Boo Hoo. This is highly addictive and stimulating in large quantities. Highly recommended for all to experience as much as possible.

I am Boo Hoo:
This is the reaffirmation again. It is the true mark of a Boo Hoo to drive home a point by repeating one’s self, some times to the point of a drone.

I am Teaching:
It has been often said that those who can’t do: teach (or become critics). Complaining is always a Boo Hoo’s first choice, but at times it is hard to tell the difference between the act of Teaching and the act of Complaining.

Explaining all things:
Again, another mystery of the Boo Hoo. It is not necessary for a Boo Hoo to understand that which he/she is explaining.

I am Reaching:
In order to be able to explain anything a Boo Hoo does not understand takes a bit of far fetched logic.

Inventing new facts:
One of the basic techniques of the Boo Hoo is if one can not quote a reliable source, make one up.

Truth is screeching:
This is an unfortunate by product of the Holy Babble.

I am Boo Hoo:
Although this is some-what monotonous, here we may observe the three stages of Boo Hoo manifestation:
1. The Rush
2. The Flush
3. The Crush

I am Learning:
A most devastating experience for a Boo Hoo. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing, this can make a person such as a Boo Hoo a vary perilous individual.

Hearing my errors:
Many a Boo Hoo have self destruct with such an experience as this. Generally, a Boo Hoo must argue all points when faced with Truth. See: Inventing new Facts.

My face burning:
A common manifestation of the Boo Hoo. There are some Boo Hoos that can read by their own countenance, a concept that can not be taken Lightly.

Students Returning:
Usually carrying weapons and instruments of torture. There are some Boo Hoos who have taken to making tours around the country to avoid these incidents. It takes a while for students to figure out that they have been bedazzled only to find the Boo Hoo gone to the next county. Long Tours and Short term Memories are the best combination.

Stomach churning:
It has been said that a powerful Boo Hoo can make butter with the aide of such experiences.
Remember, if you find yourself confronted with a suspected Boo Hoo, check for the caution sign. If you find one, they are probably harmless. It is the un-tagged ones that are the most dangerous!

– The Grand Wazoo

Thus adopting a name from a Frank Zappa Album, I took on a new Boo Hoo name. As my head cleared from all of this hyperberlly, I then decided to create pamphlets of the Chant and commentary, however to see what the actual power of the Boo Hoo really is, I then attended an event called “Craftwise” in Connecticut. There, I distributed and posted the chant and commentary widely around the event to see the reaction. Because the actual source of these pamphlets were hidden, there was no coloring of the source to damage the message. Later I found myself in an elevator hearing two women discussing a workshop they were attending. On was saying to the other “At first I though he actually had something to say, then as time rolled by I figured out he was little more than a Boo Hoo”

Both pleased and alarmed, I began to think about a counter measure against such silliness and decided to create special tags for Boo Hoos (see inspiration from the chant). The design was a simple one, the shape of a caution sign with the words “Boo Hoo” in the center. At first I thought it best to offer these to people who were self proclaimed Boo Hoos. I would hand them a flier and if they laughed, I suggested they “submit” (a term that often got somewhat of a shock, only to find I was asking them to write a special document that they made up about the Boo Hoos and become experts on the subject) but in fact I found this was asking too much and I placed the project on ice.

As of late, I decide to re-ignite the Boo Hoo Amulet with a call to all who find themselves self made experts and wish to shout from the roof tops their wisdom and knowledge of (insert what ever here). And so, for your pleasure and gratification, I am not re-releasing the Boo Hoo Amulet. Wear with pride and honor, knowing your are what you make yourself to be and what you can convince others to believe. For Boo Hoos Everywhere.
