The Snake has been revered as a Spiritual Symbol
by many different spiritual paths.
The Egyptians use them as a symbol of royalty.
The Greeks referred to the Cobra as “ the Little King” or Basilisk.
Snakes may be found in the Caduceus of medicine.
The Ouroboros is a symbol of eternity
as it swallows it’s own tail.
The Snake Amulet
In the Study of Yoga,
the snake symbolizes Kundalini:
spiritual energy awakened and harnessed.
Although in some sectors,
the snake has gotten some bad press,
the snake has been viewed as a soul guide,
past life memories,
the wisdom of the Goddess,
Freedom from Religious prosecution
and many other ideas.
The Snake Amulet is focused
on the head and cowl of the Cobra,
it’s body disappears beyond sight.
the cobra’s tail disappears into it’s coils,
so too this image shows a snake “without a tail”.
Tongue out and watching your every move,
this snake is focused
and ready to strike if needs be.

The Ouroboros (also spelled Uroboros and Oroboris), is an ancient symbol illustrated by a serpent swallowing its own tail, forming a circle. From 1600 B.C. in Egypt to the movie: “the Never Ending Story” the Ouroboros has been found through out many ages, cultures and lore.
The Ouroboros often represents self-reflexivity, something constantly re-creating itself, the eternal return, and other things perceived as cycles that begin anew as soon as they end. It can also signify the concept of primordial unity related to persisting from the beginning with such force or qualities it cannot be destroyed. The Ouroboros has been important in religious and mythological imagery, used in alchemical illustrations, where it symbolizes the circular nature of the work.
Amulets by Merlin has captured the Ouroboros in an Amulet with a small diamond shape on the forehead symbolizing the “third eye” adding the concept of perception; textured with scales all around it’s body including “belly scales” this is a full three dimensional sculpture of the Famous Ouroboros.

My latest version of the Worm Ouroboros as an amulet, this custom, one-of-a-kind bronze pendant is two and one quarter inches across and fully detailed with scales, a “diamond” on the third eye and (classically) swallowing it’s tail. As requested by my client, this is a unique piece with no mold taken. Heavy because of it’s size, it is designed to be hung on a sturdy chain through the middle.
I have already made several versions of this piece, one as a custom cloak clasp, and two versions as a ring: one smooth, one with scales. Both of which could be alternately worn as a pendant. This version was designed to be large and developed as a heavy, detailed piece: each scale is textured.
If you are interested in having a similar piece made, please visit my How to order Custom page.
I have an Ouroboros ring (also spelled Uroboros and Oroboris) in my line for years. After many requests for a different version of the piece, I developed a new and more detailed Ring: Ouroboros Ring with Scales. Like my original version, this is the classic Ouroboros swallowing it’s tail. This time I have omitted the diamond on his head and added scales down his back and along his sides.

In my line of jewelry, I have a Yin-Yang Amulet.
Wrapped around the edge is the Ouroboros and for the “two spots”
signifying the Light in Darkness and Darkness in Light I placed pentacles.
This amulet has been a part of my line for many years,
quite popular when I was traveling from one festival to another.
The combination of these three ideas in one piece provided an amulet
quite broad in meaning and focused for a particular kind of person.
Recently I received a request to modify the amulet.
Although she loved the idea of the combination she wrote:
“I am more drawn to the Ankh than I am to the Pentacle,
is it possible to replace the Pentacles with Ankhs?”
As I specialize in custom,
I was glad to do it!
And so, the most recent version of this complex amulet has the Ankh replacing the Pentacles: a Custom Yin Yang Amulet.
If you like what you see in my Jewelry Line,
but want a modification,
Write me and let me know what changes you wish and I will be happy to do so.
Modifications are only a small fee,
but with alterations the piece becomes a one-of-a-kind!

One of my favorite activities
is to create things never made before;
this was one of them!
I have already been producing the Ouroboros Ring for some time,
however a fellow wanted to have something specially made
that touches both his Celtic Heritage and his love for the Ouroboros:
the Ouroboros Penannular Brooch!
Ouroboros Penannular Brooch
The Worm Himself
is a solid carving with the ability to be viewed from both sides,
a fully detailed face and the traditional diamond scalded spine.
Unlike the Ladies’ Penannular,
this is a solid ring with a “free” pin.
By his request I created the pin without a head and to replicate a sewing needle.
The way it is worn is that the ring of the Ouroboros is placed on the cloak
(or Great Kilt)
and the needle pierces the material underneath after bunching it up
though the ring thus securing the Brooch and cloak together.
This is a one-of-a-kind piece
with no mold taken for reproduction,
if you wish to have something similar made
(or anything of the kind) simply ask!
